Vaccine Law and Policy

This seminar focuses on the manifold legal and policy issues surrounding the development, manufacturing and administration of vaccines. Course material covers both domestic and transnational matters. At the domestic level, it covers the regulatory framework applicable to vaccine products; the regulation of vaccine clinical trials; the intellectual property landscape surrounding vaccines; vaccination mandates and exemptions; vaccination injury reporting requirements and the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program; the regulation of vaccine misinformation and disinformation. At the international law level, it covers the formation of vaccine-dedicated international public-private partnerships; vaccine nationalism versus vaccine diplomacy; and no-fault liability regimes for vaccines. No pre-requisites or background in science/technology needed.
