Externship:Legal Aid (LASP)

Please http://www.law.villanova.edu/exp erientiallearning/clinicsandexternships/externships.asp click here for more information. 3L Only Fall Semester 2L and 3L Spring Semester Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania (LASP) provides legal services to indigent clients throughout Delaware County from its office in the city of Chester, PA. Students in this externship will assist victims of domestic violence in custody matters and may also assist in obtaining Orders of Protection from Abuse from the Court of Common Pleas. Students must spend a minimum of twelve hours per week, in court and at the LASP office in Chester. The supervising attorney at LASP will train and supervise the students throughout the semester. Students will participate in interviewing and counseling clients, investigating facts, negotiating, attending court proceedings, preparing for hearings, drafting court orders and appearing in court on behalf of their clients on a weekly basis. Students should plan on spending two full days at this externship. In addition, each student must maintain a journal of experiences and work done in the externship, must meet every other week with the law school supervisor and must evaluate the externship in writing at the end of the semester. The supervising attorney at LASP will evaluate the students. The final grade will be given by the law school supervisor. GRADED PASS/FAIL
