Students may vary their course load each semester, depending on their professional and personal demands. Full time status is defined as attempting 12 or more credits per semester; students attempting less than 12 credits per semester are considered part-time.
The credit limit set by the Registrar during the pre-registration period is 17 credit hours for students in Associate of Arts and Bachelor of Arts degree programs and 19 credit hours for Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science degree programs. Students who have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 or have achieved senior status are eligible to add additional courses. Credit limits are automatically raised by the Registrar for eligible students after all students have had the opportunity to register. In no case will permission be granted for a student to take 7 courses or more than 21 credits.
Students with a cumulative GPA below 3.0 who wish to enroll in additional courses must obtain approval by submitting a Credit Increase Request Form.
Change of course load may affect financial aid status; students should contact the Office of Financial Assistance for more information. Please see the Bursar’s website for more information about credit limits and costs.
