Externship:U.S. Attorney PA

PRE/COREQUISITES: Advanced Criminal Procedure (7004) Federal security clearance required. Students participating in this program will serve as externs in the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Student externs will be supervised by Assistant United States Attorneys in that office, and each extern will be required to spend twelve (12) hours per week at the office. They will participate in the work of the office, including investigation and prosecution of criminal cases and representing the United States Government in civil cases. In addition, each extern will be required to maintain a journal of experiences and work done in the externship, to meet bi-weekly with the Law School supervisor, and to evaluate the externship in writing at the end of the semester. Students must obtain federal clearance to participate in this externship. As a result, students must register no later than June for the Fall semester and September for the Spring semester in order to complete the clearance process in a timely manner. The supervising attorneys will evaluate students; however, the final grade is the responsibility of the Law School supervisor. GRADED PASS/FAIL
